COPYING MODEL ELEMENTS FROM AN EXISTING MODEL
It is best to copy items from a Plan View whenever possible. Elements copied from Elevation and Section Views can not be pasted "Aligned".
Note: Referenced Views can not be Pasted into a new file until that original View has been pasted into the model. If a Referenced View is in the selection set, the entire selection will not be pasted.
Create a Model Group
Creating a Model Group prior to copying the elements is strongly recommended. Otherwise there may be issues in pasting some models elements that are imbedded into other elements (mullions, for example). Creating a Model Group insures that all parts and pieces maintain their relationships.
Creating a Model Group from a 3-D View is advisable if one wants to capture elements that are not visible in a Plan View.
Note that Views can not be made part of a Model Group. However, when copying them to a new file they can be added to a selection set containing the Model Group or they can be copied and pasted separately.
