COPYING VIEWS (SECTION CUTS, CALLOUTS AND ELEVATION MARKS) FROM ONE FILE TO ANOTHER

These elements can not be grouped, so placement when pasted into the new model is critical if the views are to be overlaid with the drafting elements from the original View.

SELECTING THE VIEWS TO BE COPIED

Views are best copied from a Plan View. This will allow you to paste 'Aligned' to the same place in the new file.

Referenced Views
can not be Pasted into a new file until the Original View has been pasted into the model.
If a Referenced View is in the selection set, the entire selection set will not be pasted.

Note the following quirks:
  • Views copied from an Elevation or Section view can often be pasted "Aligned" into a Plan View.
  • Views can be copied from Elevation and Section Views, but the views may have to be manually placed into the new file using 'Paste from Clipboard'.
  • View Template settings are not copied and will need to be re-established after the items are pasted into the new model.
  • Settings along the View Control Bar are copied over, so the Scale, Detail Level, Visual Style, etc will be pasted with the view elements:
